I think in #2, the height requirement is maybe reasonable for reasons of child safety. You later rightly highlight the tensions it has with other laws (high heights are 'uncharacteristic, whatever they means [it's a fence ffs, not a giant artwork or whatever, but even then, if it IS approved, it's in he neighbourhood and by definition not uncharacteristic!]). Also, the cost of asking for this *every time* is probably still not worth it!
I also love the banning of music before 8am, that's hilarious to me. Music helps many kids stop crying! What a self-own by whatever dumbo did that.
Cost-benefit ratio not being considered is just heartbreaking. But yeah, great article. The case study format is really engaging,
